Germany (section Summary of international government responses)
[edit]It is technically legal for German citizens to join the international legion, but it may lead to losing German citizenship (link points to the corresponding legal text) Nathan Antras (talk) 06:58, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
The lead fails to mention there are 2 legions (also other issues)
[edit]Of the regular forces and of the HUR. (https://kyivindependent.com/investigation-almost-2-years-into-first-reports-of-wrongdoing-ukraines-international-legion-appears-immune-to-change/ - and the Wikipedia article section "Criminals who joined the legion" fails to mention the Polish wanted gangster Piotr Kapuściński among others, he has a plenty of international coverage, not only in Poland and Ukraine, for example https://www.dw.com/en/ukraine-foreign-fighters-accuse-commander-of-abuses/a-62973061 due to his informal position of a legion leader)
The HUR one was just hit with 100+ killed/wounded. (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/12/world/europe/foreign-soldiers-ukraine-russia-missile-attack.html - the article in fact saying "two dedicated international legions": Foreigners serve in regular Ukrainian Army units or in two dedicated international legions, one subordinate to the army and the other to the military intelligence agency, known as HUR.)
The rest of the article badly needs both updates and cleanups.
I noticed the Wikipedia article talks about Piotr Kapuściński without mentioning his name:
The paper also claims that one of the unit's commanders is an alleged former member of a criminal organization from Poland, wanted at home for fraud: the Legion's fighters accuse him of abusing power by ordering soldiers to loot shops, threatening soldiers with a gun, and sexually harassing the legion's female medics
Obviously, someone needed to insert the name of the wanted gangster Piotr Kapuściński into this sentence.
The July 21 massacre at the Kropyvnytskyi base should fit into the very out of date "further developments" part of the history section.
In fact, the Wikipedia article somehow seems to fail to mention even a very famous missile strike on a legion base in 2022. It's mentioned in the NYT article (In another deadly attack on foreign recruits, Russian missiles hit a training base at Yavoriv, a town near the Polish border, in the first month of the war in 2022, killing or injuring dozens.). Edit: It is mentioned, but not in history. The whole article is a mess and should be rewritten not just cleaned up.

International Legion (Ukraine) → International Legions (Ukraine) – See #The lead fails to mention there are 2 legions (also other issues). There are two: one of the ZSU generally and another of the HUR. They have separate organisations and commands. 94.246.147.217 (talk) 20:39, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

- Comment simply a reminder that this topic is covered by ACTIVE ARBITRATION REMEDIES and participation from non-extended-confirmed users is generally ignored. TiggerJay (talk) 04:22, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose as the NOM seems to be inferring what the article should be titled based on their understanding of what should be included when the term "legion" is included, instead of focusing on what the article actually covers and talks about. When considering the article itself (as well as the former article title that is still in the lead paragarph), the current title is appropriate for the current content. - Oppose non-EC move request Per TiggerJay. --TylerBurden (talk) 16:12, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
It is indeed true in that the article should be also rewritten.
Long-established articles that may possibly be followed as an example in such a rewrite: Polish Legions (Napoleonic era) and (of course) International Brigades.

Edit request
[edit]Change section title "notable individuals who enlisted" to "notable members". It's less clunky in my opinion. Rhinocratt 16:30, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
