In a galaxy far, far away… I’m excited to share that we’re partnering with the LEGO Group on a very special global campaign. To celebrate Star Wars™ Day, we’ll be bringing “May the 4th Be With You” to Mozilla Firefox. It’s been great to collaborate with the LEGO team on this launch through Mozilla Ads, where privacy, trust, and respectful advertising come first and where together we can rule the…results. ⚔️✨ May the 4th be with you ⚔️✨ #StarWars #StarWarsDay #MayTheFourth #MayThe4thBeWithYou #MayTheFourthBeWithYou #May4th #LEGO #LEGOSTARWARS #Mozilla #Firefox #MozillaFirefox #MozillaAds #DigitalAdvertising #PerformanceMarketing

  • This year’s Super Bowl ads showed how much trust matters in tech. But is saying you're "different" than competitors enough? Advertising works best when people feel respected, informed, and in control. How is your brand thinking about building trust? #SuperBowl #BrandTrust

Along with the usual snacks, celebs, and movie trailers we saw something new with this year’s Super Bowl ads. Some tech companies addressed people’s very real fear of the future of technology. Of course it was mostly jokes, but you can see a trend of companies saying “yeah AI can be scary, but WE are trustworthy (not like our very bad competitors)”.  Everyone’s talking about Anthropic saying “no” to ads, but companies like Amazon also joined in.  Alexa killed Chris Hemsworth like a vindictive HAL multiple ways, but reassured folks the assistant would really just do nice things like book massages. Xfinity saved the OG Jurassic Park crew from the hubris of science while Hims & Hers promised to give regular people access to the anti-aging science used by scary billionaires. Is acknowledging a person’s fear, but saying you’re different the way to build trust? People will laugh at Anthropic’s pitch-perfect AI assistant characterization, but could lump all assistants together as untrustworthy. Or is it better to go with a classic Google-style tearjerker? It’s pretty cute to see Ring reuniting pets with their families, but it could go sideways for them if viewers imagine a network of surveillance cameras being used to track people too. Mozilla Ads is driven by building trustworthy products that protect our users and put their needs first. How is your brand thinking about building trust?

Huge thanks to Jeremy Bloom 🌞, Mozilla Ads, and AdTechGod ®️ for having me on The Advertising Forum! Our industry is always evolving and changing, but a focus on quality, trust, and transparency remains steady. One of my favorite parts about working at Index is the leeway to think about long term problems like blocking IVT, using AI to scan for brand safety, maintaining thoughtful supply and demand quality policies, protecting signal integrity, etc. There are MANY great companies in our space creating incredibly innovative offerings. I need to do a better job of calling these out on here, because I'm hopeful about where our industry is headed. Index can't and won't build solutions to every problem ourselves; we want to partner with others. Our vision for things like containerization is the exchange can be used as a staging area to bring services together that facilitate transactions at scale and in real-time – with trust, quality, and efficiency.

Welcome to The Advertising Forum! It's a new month, new series, and a vital topic that needs to be brought up: Brand Trust In the first episode of the Brand Trust series, presented in partnership with Mozilla Ads, Mike McNeeley, SVP of Product at Index Exchange, unpacks one of the biggest tensions in our industry: the fragility of trust in #programmatic #advertising We get into why transparency is still fragile, how privacy-first monetization (yes, without cookies) can still perform, and why real-time brand safety is becoming non-negotiable as the open web spins up millions of new URLs every single day.
