gTLD RDAP Profile
Please note that the English language version of all translated content and documents are the official versions and that translations in other languages are for informational purposes only.
The ICANN organization worked with a discussion group of generic top-level domain (gTLD) registries and registrars to create a gTLD RDAP Profile. This version of the profile implements the provisions of the Registration Data Policy as it relates to RDAP.
The February-2024 version of the gTLD RDAP Profile consists of two documents:
- RDAP Technical Implementation Guide (Redline) that provides technical instructions to gTLD registries and registrars on how to implement the RDAP service; and
- RDAP Response Profile (Redline) that maps current policy requirements to the RDAP implementation with flexibility to incorporate future policy changes with minimal reengineering.
All gTLD registries and registrars are required to implement this version of the profile as of 21 August 2025.
Previous Work
Prior to the February-2024 version of the gTLD-RDAP profile, ICANN org published the February-2019 version of the gTLD-RDAP profile in two parts: the RDAP Technical Implementation Guide and the RDAP Response Profile.
Prior to the February-2019 version of the gTLD-RDAP profile, ICANN org published the July-2016 version of the gTLD-RDAP profile.
Both the February-2019 and July-2016 versions are now obsolete.
